Weekend results

4 July 2016 - By Marc Underdown

On Friday, 21 of us ventured across to Gt Bentley for the Friday 5 race. Traditionally always a balmy evening, kinder temperatures greeted us, although there was a stiff breeze which inevitably catches you somewhere on the course. The route has a couple of undulations but overall is a fast course and that proved to be the case with some fantastic performances.

For Heydon, Dave, and Rachael it was their first 5 mile race, and they have all set themselves a great first mark. Six of our runners achieved new PBs with Chris taking one second, and me two seconds off our respective PBs. On the other end of the scale, Steve Watson took over 2 minutes off the time he ran at Braintree! Anita, Emma, and Kim were the others to PB, all of them running really strongly at the moment, so are very well deserved.

Highlight of the day must go to our starlet Liz Stuckey who was the first female v40 to finish and has a new trophy for the mantelpiece! Full results below.

Elsewhere, we had three runners at the Brentwood 10K on Sunday with Ross Silverton clocking 53:09, followed by Louise Pascoe in 54:10 and Karen Flowers in 59:13.

Finally Steve Hennings traveled to Newmarket for a 10K where he finished in 48:01.
