Track 5k – 06 October 2022

Witham Running Club and Braintree and District Athletics Club will again be linking up for a friendly inter-club Track 5k Time Trial.
The event will take place on Thursday 06 October 2022 at the Braintree Athletics Track / Braintree Leisure Centre, Panfield Lane, Braintree CM7 1FF with a special thank you to Simon Mennell and Braintree DAC for allowing us to join them on the track.
This will replace the usual Thursday night Speed Development session and will give athletes of both clubs the opportunity to test themselves over 5k on the track.
This is open to all members of WRC and Braintree AC, regardless of predicted finishing time. (Jodee came 2nd to last time, but with a new massive PB…).
Runners will set-off together in 2 or 3 waves (depending on numbers) with the first wave starting at 8pm sharp. The waves will be decided by predicted finishing time.
Please note:
- The race HQ and warm-up area will be the concrete concourse area before you enter the track.
- This area can also be used to perform your cool down.
- Please do not enter the track area until you are called for your race.
- Please exit the track as soon as possible after the end of your race.
We will close the sign up at 12:00 on race day, to give us time to work out the waves/races, which we will then publish in a separate post. As a heads up, the waves will likely be at 8pm and 8.35/8.40pm, with arrival from 7.40pm.
We will, as always, need volunteers to put on the Track 5k event. If you would like to run and then volunteer, we will need a couple of people to do sign up before each race wave. We will also need lap counters and a timing team. So if you can’t run or you don’t fancy 12.5 laps of the track, do consider volunteering to support your club and this event (for WRC runners Club Champs points are up for grabs!). Arrival for volunteers will be from 7.40pm.
