A smaller set of submissions this week, but what we lacked in numbers we more than made up for in air miles, with WRC runners racing in Frankfurt, Venice and Valencia, plus one brave soul battling the wind at Duxford. Two big marathon PBs among them, too. Thank you to everyone who submitted! (Now updated for late submissions 😊)
Frankfurt Marathon
Frankfurt is Germany’s oldest city marathon, known for its fast, flat course (a height difference of less than 28 metres over the whole route) and one of the most atmospheric finishes anywhere: a red carpet into the Festhalle, cheered on by a packed hall. Will Radley led the way in 2:34:23. Despite pouring rain for the first 6 miles, it had brightened up beautifully by mile 25, and Will reports he had lots of fun! Giles Sowerby took a massive 7 minutes off his PB to finish in 2:49:14. Brilliant running, both!

Venice Marathon
This year was the 40th edition of this marathon, which starts at Villa Pisani and crosses the lagoon on the Ponte della Libertà. Runners then finish in Venice itself, crossing a floating bridge over the Grand Canal, passing through St Mark’s Square and tackling a series of ramped canal bridges in the closing kilometres. Irina Ashdown achieved a PB in this truly unique setting. Well done, Irina!

Venice Half Marathon
Liz Atkinson and Rachel O’Leary were also in Venice, taking on the half distance. Rachel completed the distance in 2:03:59 and Liz in 2:04 exactly. Well done, both!
Valencia Half Marathon
Valencia is one of the fastest half marathons in the world, with a flat, wide city course that has seen world records fall. This year’s edition was no different at the sharp end, with a new Spanish national record in both the men’s and women’s races. Lee Tooey was there for WRC and finished in 1:44:23. Well done, Lee!

Duxford Dash 10k
Organised by Imperial War Museums and Good Running Events, the Duxford Dash gives runners the rare chance to race on the historic IWM Duxford airfield. The 10k is two laps that include stretches of the runway. It’s usually billed as flat and fast, but not this year! Ross Silverton reports gale force winds down the open airfield, which made for anything but an easy run. Well done Ross!

Running Tribe Chalfont Park Marathon
Adam Regan continued his quest to complete a marathon a month in 2026, running this lapped event in a time of 4:36:33 – and coming in first place at marathon distance!
