Team event Ekiden Relay – July 14th 2019 Enter now. Everyone welcome.

29 March 2019 - By Brigid Wallen

The date for this year’s Ekiden Relay, hosted by Ipswich JAFFA, is Sunday July 14th.  For the benefit of our newer members, this is a marathon distance relay split over 6 legs as follows:

Leg 1 ~ 7.2km

Leg 2 ~ 5km

Leg 3 ~ 10km

Leg 4 ~ 5km

Leg 5 ~ 10km

Leg 6 ~ 5km

The race will take place in the grounds of Woodbridge School, Suffolk.  Each lap is an accurately measured 2.5k run mainly on grass.

This is a great day out for Witham Running Club members and their families.  The school grounds are transformed into a riot of colour as all the clubs pitch their gazebos and fly their flags.  Each runner receives a massive cheer from their clubmates as they pass by.  You can bring cakes and picnics and there will also be a barbeque and refreshments available to buy on the day.  Changing facilities available but no showers.

Due to the popularity of this event, there is a race limit of 200 teams therefore, if you are interested in taking part, please add your name to the list via the link below asap.  We will need to move quickly to reserve team entries.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please speak to your captains.

Bill & Brigid.
