JR 5k Handicap and Series results 2026
17 July 2026 - By Jodee Mayer
As always, firstly, the biggest of thank yous to the volunteers:
-
-
- Set up – Colin Short, Mike Struthers, James Attenborough, Oliver Radley
- Registration and timing – Sarah Naughton and Beth Shippey (and a special mention to Ben O’Leary who has spent far too much time over the last 2 days helping with my spreadsheet dramas! Thanks to Ben we now have a shiny new one to use)
- Marshals – Amy Eyo, James Montgomery, Angela Read, Andrew Read, Kerry Townsend, Dionne Radley, Mike Struthers, Oliver Radley, Ian Lucas, James Attenborough, Jamie Light, Mark Austin and Liz Stuckey
-
Another thank you to everyone who volunteered at any of the races; it might sound cliche, but these races genuinely cannot happen without you, we’re very grateful for the support.
Secondly, congratulations to everyone who took part in any of the series!
We have three sets of results: the 5k times, the handicap winners, and the series winners.
Result 1: 5k
These are the finish times minus the handicap, so are the actual 5k times – as always, any PBs let me know and I will gladly update.

Result 3: The series
The series winners are calculated by taking an average of a runner’s two highest finishing positions of the series and combining it with time improvement across the series.
The winners were Sally Hoyle & James Goodey. Excellent effort guys! I have both of your trophies so please message me to arrange a time to collect and be photographed – next week’s pub run would be ideal if you’re there!
We hope you’ve enjoyed the series, and would welcome any constructive feedback to help us make next year’s series even better.
That’s me over and out for the JR5K series. The spreadsheet gives me a headache every year, but otherwise it is a lovely set of races to be involved in and I am so grateful to everyone who has been involved this year particularly to Karen and Will who RD’ed.
My final and biggest thanks to DJ who not only books The Angel for us every year, but marks the course and recces it for us. And also lets me in and out of the storage container to get the gear. Thanks DJ.
I am handing over a shiny new spreadsheet – thanks again Ben – to your new Fixtures Coordinator – more on that very soon.
