Thursday
Salomon Mamores Vertical Kilometer – somewhere in Scotland
James Farren rounded out his 1000 days of running in a row, to complete the VK before taking part in Saturday’s Ring of Steall Skyrace (more on that shortly). The VK ascends 1000m in just over 5km of distance, and is a hands and knees type affair, for those interested. James completed this little warm up in 1:05:29
Saturday
Ring of Steall Skyrace
At roughly 30k, and bagging 4 munro’s apparently, this is a beast of a mountain run. James finished in 6:09:26 and you can read his full write up elsewhere on Facebook
Crathes Half Marathon
Also in Scotland, David Stevens completed the Crathes Half in 1:25:31 coming home in 8th place
Red, Wight and Blue Carnival Trail
Terry Alabaster was out for his first race over at Dunmow in the Red, White and Blue Carnival Trail 10k finishing in 0:57:53 (after adding a couple of extra fields in for good measure)
Sunday
Help For Heroes 10 Mile Trail
Next up for Terry was this little number. He did experience a few little direction challenges, which he soon figured out when he looked on the top three lines of directions he’d folded over by accident, finishing in 1:37:36 for a well deserved pint
Dedham 10k
This hilly race always seems to clash with something in the club champs table, so we had only 3 club members running today

Pleshey and Essex Half Marathon
With the Ladies reigning champ and team in Witham RC, along with Mark Austin’s MV60 to defend, it was always going to be a great day of racing. Not quite as hot as last year, but still pretty challenging all the same.
Rachel Sweatt and Mark Austin retained their titles with Rachel coming home in a Club Record & PB of 1:21:12 and Mark finishing in 1:35:38. Whilst not able to retain last year’s team gold, the ladies still bought home the Bronze Team award (Rachel, Hayley & Tanya).
There were also a flurry of PB’s, and a smattering of performances that some people were disappointed in but it was a great turnout from the Black & Gold as ever.
