Weekend Race Results – Black & Gold!!

Another busy week(end) of racing for the Black & Gold of Witham RC with some great results, PBs and County Team Gold (for the Ladies) & Bronze (for the men) and another Club Record for Leo Cole!!

Halstead & Essex Marathon – the lumpy one!

Where to start with the superlatives?

Putting aside the unofficial “Best Water Station 2018” & “Most acrobatic fall into a bush” awards we have the following:-

  • Rachel Sweatt – Silver 2nd place Lady
  • Rachel, Charlotte Elms & Tanya Cregan – Gold Team Medal
  • Leo Cole – Bronze 3rd place and a new Club Record!!
  • Leo, Giles Sowerby & David Stevens picked up the Bronze Team Medal.

It was Nik Bainbridge’s 1stMarathon, Haydeh Safavi’s 2ndin 2 weeks (why?) and Tracey Denby’s 11th (again, why?)!!

Baddow 10 – the slightly less lumpy one!

1stClub Champs 10 miler of the season saw some great runs on a challenging course. Mark Finbow was best placed in 8th, Steve Watson got a great PB, Aimee Brinzer limped home to one; and, Danny Connor clocked up his 2nd this week (see Maldon Summer 5k results)

There are few people who race as much as Ross Silverton in the club! For his first outing of the weekend he was over in Hylands Park for race 1 of the Summer Cross Country series

    Could we check the results again please for the male team award. I may have made a mistake, but cannot see why we wouldn’t have got silver??

    Thanks Leo – I agree, it does look like we should have Silver. I have contacted Essex AA and await their reply.

    Leo, Essex results are worked out based on Essex placing (so they exclude non-Essex runners like the winner from Bungay). when you work the result out on that basis Halstead had 34 points to Witham’s 38. the rationale is that Champs results should not be influenced by people not running in the championship – hence why they exclude non-Essex runners.
