53-12 Harwich XC Results – WRC Move up to 2nd!

5 November 2017 - By Anita Grainger

On a bright crisp sunny morning 34 WRC members ran in race 2 of the 53-12XC series. After a strong start at Springfield last week the team started the day off in 3rd position. This year’s route changed from the usual 2 laps course to a single lap round fields heading closer to the river which I hear was a little boggy in places.

Our first lady home was Rachel Sweat in 1st, who continues to hold the first Ipswich Jaffa lady off, Liz Stuckey & Charlotte moved up the ranks from last week finishing 12th & 16th closely followed by Hayley in 21st. Tanya Nash moved into the top 30 for the first time finishing in 29th shooting past a Hadleigh Hare on her pursuit of the finish line with Brigid, Sasha & Penny also improving on last week’s placings. On the men’s side we were missing a few key players. Chris Martin lead the charge finishing in 17th with Nebay Debusay closely on his heels in 21st improving on last week’s placing. Heydon Mizon and James Crisp slipped a little on last week with David Steven’s holding his 36th place sandwiched in-between them. Matt Fabyonic has found his cross country legs and rocketed up the placings today from 97th to 68th and into the scoring books. It was good to see many new faces return after last week’s race and a few new ‘Cross Country’ faces. Well done to Natalie Lilley and Paul Thomas, hope to see you at the next race.

Thanks to our baking team of Tanya Nash, David Mason, Sue Smith & Penny Clarke with our dynamic duo of Theresa and Anita for managing the scoring. It’s quite an art prizing finishing tokens from shattered runners! Photos from today are in the gallery courtesy of Heydon, Alex & Anita.

The ladies finished 2nd and the men in 4th with Witham 2nd overall and now joint second in the league with Colchester. I’m so proud of everyone’s efforts today & shows WRC is a force to be reckoned with in Division A 😊

Full results below. Well done everyone!
