Track 5k – 01 Feb 2024

Our next Winter 5k will take place on Thursday 01 February 2024 from 8pm (see further below). This will replace the usual speed development session. 

Runners: The time trial is for all and is free of charge for members. Please do sign up below so that we know how many runners to expect (and how many lap counters we will need). If you have any queries about time trials do speak to a member of the coaching team.

Venue: Colchester Gateway, Cuckoo Farm Way, Colchester, CO4 5YX. There is car parking on site – parking is free but you need to enter your registration number into one of the tablets in the main building. Do not forget to do this, there is no way to rectify it if you forget. If you can offer a lift, or need a lift, please comment below or on the Facebook page.  Car sharing, as always, is encouraged.

Time: We do not have access to the track until 8:00pm, but we will be there at around 7.40pm to hand out numbers. If you want to warm up before 8pm please do not use the track. The race will start at approx 8:10pm – we have the track booked until 9pm and this should allow most, if not all, to complete a 5k time trial if they wish.

Volunteers: We will need some lap counters please – only 5 laps this time! – as well as some people to help with finish times, and a marshal or two for the turn points would be nice if we have enough volunteers. If you could sign up below so that I know you want to kindly give up your time to help put the time trial on I would be grateful. Club champs points available as usual.

Course: 1km loop as per the picture below – this is the same course as the ATW 5k in August for those that took part. We will hopefully have a marshal on the turn point. You will have someone counting your laps as above. The loop is about as flat as you can get and has meant some fast times on the course before.
