Weekend Race Report
23 October 2017 - By Steve Hennings
Whilst it was a fairly quiet weekend in terms of numbers of club members racing, the races and results were significant with the normal super human WRC spirit
Endurance Life Suffolk Trail marathon at Dunwich
On Saturday, Shawn Beckerleg took on his first ever marathon. It was a mixed terrain of track, beach, road and forest paths with the distance just over 27.1 miles (so also classes as an Ultra). Battling the remains of Hurricane Brian, a sore knee from mile 4 and cramp from mile 14, Shawn showed that true stubborn WRC spirit to finish in a time of 5 hr 50mins, coming 74th out of 94.
The J’s Hospice Chelmsford Marathon 2017
We had four members running Chelmsford this year with 3 finishers as Sue Smith unfortunately had to withdraw with the reoccurrence of a foot injury – she’ll be back.
Declan Walters had a great run in 04:32:38.
Giles Sowerby and Sean Darney were both hunting PB’s and succeeded in style in the blustery conditions, with Giles getting the qualifying time to get direct entry into the VLM in 2019!

Water of Life Half Marathon
Running her 11th half marathon of the year, Dawn Shilling was up/over/visiting Bisham Abbey in Berkshire this time running along the Thames Tow path from Marlow to Henley, finishing in 02:05:11. One to go to reach the magic 12 half marathons in 12 months!!
