Results 7/4/24

8 April 2024 - By Natalie Lilley

Wow, what a busy weekend! With members at at least seven different races, NOT including the Essex road relays, which have their own post here.

Members were all over the country, and beyond! running distances from half marathons to 80k (50 miles in old money).

There were a couple of very large events – Brighton and LLHM – which (un)helpfully didn’t contain any club info in their results sites. I’ve included the results where I’ve received submissions, and anyone that I otherwise knew was running, but if I’ve missed you, please do send me a submission form and I’ll add you in. Equally if you’ve got a PB (well done!) but not submitted a form, please do so 😊

Maverick ARUK Original Suffolk

Both Ben Roberts and Clarice Sanderson took on the long distance (14 miles) option of this race on Saturday, with Ben finishing in 2:20:11 and Clarice in 2:48:10.

Shropshire Way 80k

Harry Solomon was navigating the Shropshire hills on Saturday, in this self-guided ultra with 2500m of elevation. He finished in 10 hours & 52 minutes (before travelling home to take part in the Essex road relays!). Other distances had fun names such as “half-mammothon”, and “Tusker 10k”, but the 80k was just called the 80k. Must try harder, Shropshire!

London Landmarks Half Marathon

Hopefully lots of landmarks were taken in during this hugely popular race in the City.

Tom Warman 1:51:53
Amy Maleary 2:20:42 PB
Nicola Digby 2:30:49 PB
Beth Shippey 2:42:30
Sarah Naughton 2:50:56

Berlin Half Marathon

Our esteemed Chair, Karen Flowers was repping WRC over in Berlin, finishing in 2:19:15. Well done Karen!

Saltmarsh Half Marathon

A good showing from WRC at this Hare & Tortoise trail half. Sounds like the tide was in for some paddling at the end!

10 Louis Kitchener 1:56:59
19 Rupert Bulgin 2:01:21
50 Jonathan Moore 2:21:14
73 Ian Lucas 2:37:08
87 Ross Silverton 2:41:27

107 Lysia Jiggins 3:06:17

Southampton Marathon

One of our newest members, Stamatis Katsimis, was at one of two South coast marathons, finishing in 3:55:41 – well done Stamatis, and welcome!

Brighton Marathon

We had 3 finishers down in Brighton, tough going in hot, hilly and windy conditions!

Simon Scott 3:35:05 First marathon!
Ian Cuthbert 3:41:03 PB
Mick Conroy 3:59:10 PB

Commiserations to Maggie Mason, who managed to complete 20 miles of the course before needing to retire due to feeling unwell. Next time, Maggie 🖤💛

Well done everyone!
