Mersea Autumn Duathlon
7 November 2017 - By Andrew Lager
Following a postponement due to storm Brian a couple of weeks ago I took part in the rescheduled Mersea Island Duathlon on Sunday.
This was my first foray into a multi disciplined event and the sprint distance of 5K run, 20K ride, 3K run was well suited for a novice.
The run legs were around Cudmore Grove park and were a mix of field, wood and beach (which was rapidly disappearing for leg 2!).
Conditions were bright and breezy which made for a testing bike leg with a headwind for the first 4 miles.
I was pleased to finish in 11th place overall and first male vet.
Run leg 1 – 20:21 T1 – 00:53 Bike leg – 36:53 T2 – 00:42 Run leg 2 – 13:19 Total – 1:12:10
