Spitfire Scramble

4 August 2016 - By Marc Underdown

Over the weekend of the 13th/14th August, five of us will be taking part in the Spitfire Scramble 24-hour race in Hornchurch. The race starts at midday on Saturday and finishes at midday on Sunday, and in between we will be taking it in turns to run the 5.9 mile lap which is mainly on gravel tracks and grass paths.  Our team is comprised of Paul Cole, James Crisp, Lee Pembroke, Bill Smythe and myself.

We are expecting to each run six times and cumulatively over 35 miles across the 24 hours, which will make this both a physical and mental challenge! We would therefore be more than happy to see anyone who fancies popping along to support us at any point day or night!

The event is taking place at:  Hornchurch Country Park, Squadrons Approach, RM12 6TS. We will have the club gazebo and sails so hopefully it will be easy to find us in the campsite!
