10 minute miling (plus) group
15 January 2019 - By Marc Underdown
In recent weeks, it has been noticed that there is often fewer people or no-one who either wants to run or lead the 10 min/mile group. This may be causing knock on issues to the 9:30 group which has been getting larger. We are also acutely aware of having lost some runners from this group to other running clubs or groups.
The committee is as committed to our members who run in this group as to those who run in faster groups. At our meeting last week we discussed this issue and how we might address the situation. In order to ensure we regularly have a 10-minute miling (plus) group, members of the committee and coaches have agreed to form a rota to lead that group. However in the spirit of us being a members club, we want to open the invitation to be on this rota to all members of the club. It it is a great opportunity to run with people that you may not normally run with. If we get enough people on the rota, then it is likely that you may only have one or maybe two Tuesday’s in the year where you might have to lead that group. Please let me know by commenting below or letting me know in any other way.
On the general point about group leaders for any of the groups, we are always looking for new people to volunteer so it is not always the same people who lead the groups. If you’ve never done this before, why not give it a go, there is really not too much that can go wrong. Any of the regular group leaders would be happy to support you if you’re not sure about what you need to do.
