Hilly Fields Cross Country

The Essex League Cross Country fixture at Hilly Fields, Colchester, hosted by CHAC, provided a perfect day for racing. The clear skies and crisp conditions set the stage for an exciting and competitive event, with many clubs and runners turning up in force to tackle the challenging course.
With a hilly and technical course to navigate, our runners delivered some of the best performances we’ve seen in recent years at the Essex League. It’s clear that the club is making real strides in the league, and today marked a milestone.
U17 Mixed (6km)
Henry Crates delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in 11th place with a time of 23:46. Henry showed incredible composure and pace throughout the race, setting a high standard for the day and proving to be one of our standout performers.
Senior Women (6.6km)
Anita Grainger ran a strong and steady race, crossing the line with a time of 43:53. Her commitment and effort on this challenging course were fantastic to witness. An asset to WRC.
Senior Men (8km)
- Jamie Davidson put in a fantastic effort, finishing in 102nd place with a time of 31:42. His pace on the hilly sections and stamina throughout the course were commendable.
- Simon Cresswell ran a solid race, crossing the finish line in 39:31 and putting in a consistent and determined performance for the team.
- David Jobling completed the race with a time of 43:31, showing determination and endurance on a tough course, demonstrating true team spirit. A fantastic performance.
- Michael Conroy ran hard to finish with a solid time of 42:24, demonstrating resilience and consistent effort after a demanding season.
A Breakthrough Day for Witham RC
Today marked WRC’s best day in the Essex League in recent years, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our runners. With the WRC banner proudly flying high for the first time, it symbolised the progress and ambition driving the club forward.
A massive thank you to CHAC for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable event, and to everyone who raced. The clear skies and supportive atmosphere made for a memorable day.
