Liz Stuckey takes on the world!

19 September 2016 - By James Montgomery

News from the Triathlon Age Group World Championships held in Cozumel, Mexico, where Liz was competing for Great Britain!

Here’s the unabridged version:-

What an amazing experience I have had. Ok, not the best race, but as an experience I can’t beat it. And I have a world champs finishers medal!!!

What can I say about the swim, other than a nightmare! I hated the fact it was in the sea! I couldn’t deal with the currents. Not ever doing a sea swim again!!! Somehow I finished though. Just didn’t want to stop!

The bike was a flat out and back course! Slight headwind on the way back, but nothing to hinder me. I took it steady as I’d been in the water for so long! I was worried I didn’t have enough drinks as we’d been told to take 2 bottles, but I can only carry one on my bike! I was fine though and didn’t even finish my one bottle.

Then to the run. I was expecting it to be harder than it was!!! Yes it was slower than I would normally go, but to be expected in the heat and humidity!! I ran at a consistent pace and my garmin has it longer than 10k!!! I actually felt strong. Maybe it was holding back on the bike that helped!

Great support from Brits on the course!!!

Now having a rest week and enjoying the all inclusive bar!!!
