Traffic-free 1k efforts – Great Notley

7 February 2018 - By James Crisp

This Thursdays session 1k reps at Great Notley in Braintree. This is a new venue that has been reccied as Eastways has been getting a little busy with lorries and cars over the last few weeks. It’s also on well-lit wide footpaths, so traffic-free!

The meeting place and starting point for the session is in the Additional Parking area for Tesco opposite the old Oakland’s Inn. Postcode is CM77 7US. Start time 7.30pm.

We will have an out and back jog warm up along the 1k route so everyone can see where the start and finish is. We will then continue with usual dynamic warm-ups in the car park before the 30 mins efforts session begins.

The target pace for the effort should be slightly quicker than your 5k pace. If you would like to programme your GPS device it will be 1k efforts with a standing recovery. Or a little movement if it’s cold. Duration of the recovery is suggested at 90secs – 2 mins minutes as required.

The session, as always is for absolutely everyone and is a fantastic compliment to your Tuesday night tempo runs helping to build your running speed and endurance. Specifically to help improve distances from 10k to marathon.

The temperature is expected to be a little cold still tomorrow so please bring a light jacket or additional layer for before and after the session as well as the usual high vis and torches. As the session start is next to where we will be meeting/parking you can safely store any personal belongings in your car. However, please note the barrier for Tesco additional parking closes at 9pm.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Sorry guys, it’s a bit far for me and will make it a really late night. I have a 5.30a.m. start Friday morning. I will train in Maldon instead, but thank you for moving it to another venue. Maybe another time.
