parkrun – 22/08/2026

28 August 2026 - By Steven Alder

This week saw WRC members at Hadleigh, Highwoods, Battersea, Chelmsford Central, Great Notley, Walton Promenade, Markshall, Maldon Prom, Thurso, Norwich, Milano Nord (Italy!), Roding Valley, Burnham-on-Crouch, Great Cornard, Jeskyns Community Woodland, ARU Writtle, The Grand Canal Way (Tullamore – Ireland!), Reigate Priory, Sheringham and Moors Valley. This week was also Tutu week, wearing a Tutu at parkrun when it’s the 22nd of the month!

Quite a few locations with just the one member – well done on your touring. Hadleigh had Leo Cole (23:12), Highwoods had Adam Hocken (28:03) and over in London was Dawn Shilling (33:16) at Battersea. Then we had Ross Silverton running Chelmsford Central in 30:37. Steven Alder went to the north of the UK to visit Thurso (most northern on the mainland) in 26:52 whilst Giles Sowerby completed Norwich in 18:41.

Keeping with the theme of single tourists, Roding Valley had Nadia McLeod (23:57 & 3rd female), Great Cornard was visited by Lee Tooey (21:38) and down in Kent at a fairly new event was Simon Gill (27:33) at Jeskyns Community Woodland. Adam Regan (25:32) was at ARU Writtle, Louis Kitchener doing his 14th parkrun in 20:30 at Moors Valley and Mike Struthers (34:56) visiting the lovely course in Sheringham. Luke Jackson was at Reigate Priory, completing it in 22:18.

Then we had a couple of international spots this week – Fiona Collins was at Tullamore in Ireland to do The Grand Canal Way in 23:40 (2nd female) whilst Karen Pickering was in Italy, completing Milano Nord in 21:52 (4th female). Well done both on your international tourism!

Our remaining parkruns to discuss all reside in Essex, with Great Notley seeing Keith Taylor (27:58) and Lysia Jiggins (34:31), Walton Promenade welcoming Gus Maby (21:29) and Michael Poulter (45:46) and over at Burnham-on-Crouch was Daniel Griffiths (21:22), Jon Shippey (29:54) and Bethany Shippey (39:37).

Maldon Prom had quite a few regulars – Jamie Marlow (19:58 & 4th overall), Dean Whittaker (23:45), James Goodey (25:30), Alan Cutler (25:40), Sian Tate (27:30), James Attenborough (27:43), Darren Ward (28:22), Christine Israel (31:33), Christine Wager (31:47), Ian Cuthbert (31:34) and Joe McEwan (55:04). Finally at Markshall was Ian Lucas (26:04), Glen Waller (26:46 & Car Park Marshal) and Angela Read (56:40). Andrew Read was Number Checker with Patrick Hinchliffe doing the Barcode Scanning.

The full set of results can be found here. Don’t forget to add Witham RC to your parkrun profile.

parkruns off Bank Holiday weekend

Did you know you can see if a parkrun is cancelled this week in a few ways? The parkrun app will show a location in red if it’s off for the next parkrun. Alternatively, you can see a full list on their website on the cancellations page. It will also show on the parkrun’s event page as well. However, for last minute cancellations, sometimes it’s quicker to see it on their Facebook page, so worth looking at them too (especially if you’re touring or the weather is bad).

However, close to us this weekend Markshall, Chelmsford Central, Burnham-on-Crouch, Colchester Castle, Harlow and Ingrebourne Hill are not on for the Bank Holiday weekend.
