Weekend results, inc HBO 10K
31 May 2016 - By Marc Underdown
We had a couple of members out running on Saturday at the Burnham on Crouch 10K. Ross Silverton warmed up for the HBO with a 54:47, and not far behind him was Sasha Rush in 56:43 who took over 4 mins off her previous best.
When most people do a spring marathon they only do one, whereas Dave Howard seems to treat the whole of spring as marathon season. His latest exploit was up in Edinburgh, where he discovered another ‘Big Dave’ which may or may not dispel the “there’s only one big Dave” chant! He finished in 5h24m16s.
At the HBO 10K on Monday, we had a great turn out for the club with 32 members experiencing the near perfect cloudy weather conditions although a bit windy in places. The course has been changed slightly from last year removing the bottom of the fast downhill towards the finish and replacing it with the last 500m across a field. This didn’t deter a number of runners who racked up PBs. Mark Finbow was our first man home coming in 12th overall with a new PB of 35.50. Liz Stuckey was out first lady home also with a new PB of 43.39. We had 6 runners taking on this distance for the first time with Graham Eyre finishing first of the pack in 47.46. Full results below.
There was great support for the club en route with a number of photographers; thanks Stewart, Monty, Ruth & Martyn. I think all our runners could hear the enthusiastic shouts of encouragement long before they saw Tracey at the 4.7km mark at the top of the hill coming back through the town – great spot Tracey!
Well done everyone.
