Weekend Results – 10ks, 11.2ks & an International Marathon

Now that the temperature has started to move up summer must be well and truly on its way , well perhaps. Race distances tend to shorten so it’s not surprising the club had representation at 3 separate 10k events and an 11.2k race. Having said the distances shorten 4 club members ran a marathon this weekend.

Starting with the 10ks…..

Three club members took part in Burnham on Crouch 10k which is apparently part trail. James Crisp was our first runner home coming 5^th in a time of 38.27 with a nice trophy to go with it.

Today 6 members took part in the London Vitality 10k where tom Ashley was lucky to meet Jo Pavey and get a nice selfie too. Owen Dare led with club contingent finishing in 40.36.

Finally the main 10k event for the club was Hatfield Broad Oak 10k where 28 members took part. The race covers a figure of 8 ‘undulating’ route which goes through the town twice and finishes with a final dash across the field. Conditions were hot and humid so it’s no surprise there were no PBs although Andy Lager did equal his. Heydon Mizon was our first member home in 38.07 while his wife Ruth put her mark on her first 10k race as did Lee Blake. In true WRC spirit Anita saw Carina was suffering a bit in the heat and rather than whizz past her on the home straight she finished hand in hand with Carina.

Now up to Scotland where Tanya Nash ran in the Kirkcudbright Beeches 11.2km an unusual distance and I understand it was hot and hilly. Tanya finished in 59.24.

Finally last but by no means least 4 ladies headed over to France to take part in the Marathon du Mont Saint-Michel and looks like they all ran together finishing in 5.07 well done ladies… look out for the separate write up of their adventures
