Results 8/3/26

10 March 2026 - By Natalie Lilley

A busy weekend, with lots of races, and lots of lovely results submissions, thank you.

Colchester Half Marathon

This was a popular fixture, being a Club Champs race and also a race where WRC provides pacers. Well done to our pacers, and some fantastic performances from our racers, including club records for Rachel Rising (by 7 minutes!!) and Graham Eyre (breaking his own record), and a bunch of PBs.

Cambridge Half Marathon

This fixture has attracted more runners in the past, but only 3 from WRC were there this weekend (possibly due to the clash with Colchester). Special mention to Angela Read, who beat her previous time on this course by 10 minutes!

The Grizzly

Here’s the website description of this race: The Grizzly is a tough, mixed-terrain, springtime running race, which starts and finishes in the East Devon town of Seaton on a certain Sunday in March, and takes in the coast and hinterland of Beer and Branscombe. The near-20–mile course sends runners across pebble beaches and along lanes, roads, trails and tracks that cross cliffs and fields, go over some heartbreaking hills and pass through woods, thigh-deep bogs, at least one river and a pub garden

If you want the short version, I watched a FB video of part of it and felt my calves cramping up and wanted to cry.

Terry Alabaster decided that this looked like fun, and completed the course in 4:32:56. Terry’s whereabouts are still unknown

Lisbon Half Marathon

Lee Tooey was representing WRC in the Lisbon Half, where he finished in 1:45:19, just a few places behind the new world record holder Jacob Kiplimo, who finished in 57:20!

Athens Half Marathon

Stamatios Katsimis travelled to the hopefully warmer Athens HM where he landed a PB of 1:35:20 – well done Stam!

Great Welsh Marathon

Michael Higgins travelled to the Llanelli coastline, where he bagged a marathon PB in the impressive time of 3:12:05. Well done!
