Halstead Marathon
A grand club day out at this County Champs event, where WRC had a larger than usual field, and also took up our regular spot manning the 5.5/16 miles water station. Well done to all of our volunteers, and thanks to everyone who came to cheer on the runners.
Congratulations to all who completed this challenging but beautiful course – I’d normally call out a couple of special mentions, but literally everyone running it was worth of a special mention!
Captain Will Radley led the charge, achieving County and Team bronze, Owen Dare achieved County MV60 gold and Team bronze, Jamie Davidson completed the bronze mens’ team placings, Karen Pickering achieved FV40 county gold, Sally Hoyle improved her previous marathon time by an incredible 47 minutes, Rich Green completed his 101st marathon (in bib number 101!), Adam Regan completed another monthly marathon (and sub 4), Monty completed his first marathon in 14 years, and Chrissy managed sub 5 and a PB on a tough day.

Colchester 10k
We also had a great turnout at this Rotary Club 10k, with a couple of PBs (that I know of), and a couple of age group awards. Ross Silverton finished 1st MV75, and DJ finished 2nd MV70, on his 70th birthday (while wearing the number 70 – are people contacting the race organisers before?), while also bagging a gold standard time.

A late addition: Andrew Smith was apparently at the “Smith” marathon 🤔 A quick check of his Strava suggests this was in fact the Copenhagen marathon, which he completed in a PB time of 3:04:07, which was 6 years in the making. Well done Andrew! (For the marathon, not the submission form completion 😜)
