Other weekend results

What a scorcher of a day Sunday was. Millions of people in the country probably took the time to sit out and relax in the garden, drinking a glass of something cold. What many of people wouldn’t instinctively choose to do is take part in a running race. In yesterday’s temperatures any distance would have been uncomfortable, so safely finishing is definitely the order of the day.
Stewart has already posted about the Halstead marathon so I will just add my admiration for those who both took part (whether they finished or not), and our tremendous group of volunteers who did such a fantastic job.
As far as I know we had runners across three other races on Sunday. One of our favourite occasional Sunday locations is Alton Water in Suffolk, and James Blackshaw travelled there for the 10K which takes in some of the route around the lake. He finished in 46:31.
New member Dave Holdich took on the Run Hackney half marathon finishing in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park. He made it round in a time of 2:12:12. I don’t doubt he’ll start taking chunks off this in the future.
Finally we had eight members who took part in the Colchester 10K. Fresh from his Brighton marathon, Dave Campbell continues to excel and set a new PB of 38:41. Andy Lager had a fine run to finish in 41:34. Mark Lynch, also now recovered from Brighton, finished in 45:52, and Shawn Beckerleg was just a little behind him in 46:44. Louise Pascoe finished in 54:27, and then we had a good grouping of three of our ladies with Dawn Shilling finishing just over the hour in 1:00:14, Karen Flowers in 1:00:50, and Haydeh Safavi in 1:01:07.
Well done all!
