Gt Bentley Half 2018 – Results
4 February 2018 - By James Crisp
22 hardy Witham Running Club members turned out this morning in the wintery conditions for the ever popular Great Bentley half marathon. 800 places selling out in less than 2 hours after opening kept a lot of people away and with a strict transfer deadline 2 weeks prior to the race, meant a few empty places.
Despite the slightly windy conditions, the cooler temperatures meant plenty of personal bests today and with fantastic support from the Great Bentley marshalls and lashings of post race cake, it was all-round an excellent day at the office. Mark Finbow, although running for his first claim club, South London Harriers, came home in a rocketing time of 1:16:31. David Hunt came home first for WRC with a PB of over a minute at 1:19:54, with Tanya Cregan crossing the line first for the ladies with a PB of 1:42:42. Mark Austin continued his winning-streak finishing 1st Men’s V60 with Owen Dare finishing 2nd Men’s V55.
Congratulations to Julia Bacon on completing her first half marathon in 2:12:04 after successfully completing the New to Club Running Programme in June last year.
Other members travelled further afield for some 10k action with Steve Hennings completing the Chichester 10k in a PB of 44:35. Whilst Chris Wager, Nick Inns, Christine Wager all had PBs along with David Holdich, all took part in the London Winter 10k (results below).
