Chelmsford 10K results

23 November 2015 - By James Crisp

Well didn’t it get cold over the weekend! It took those of us who ventured out from Morrison’s at 9am a few miles to get warm. Although the temperature improved a few degrees during the day, the runners taking part in the Chelmsford 10K at 2pm still had chilly conditions. However as long as you warm up properly, cold conditions normally mean fast times if the other factors are helpful. And with a bit of afternoon sunshine and dry and very calm conditions, everything was set fair and PB’s were bettered all over the place.

I understand the following people definitely PB’d – Liz Stuckey, David and Vicky Hunt, Colleen Rae, Anita Grainger and Dawn Shilling. I’m not sure if Scott had run a 10K before – if he had I suspect his time is also a PB, and that he will dip under 40 mins very soon. I think it’s fair to say that Dave Smith is unlikely to ever break a PB again (he has some rather good times from his younger years!), nevertheless he had a storming run and took around a minute and a half from his previous season’s best. Also it’s great to see Kerry back racing again after a long injury layoff. Finally fair play to Ross, because he was definitely at Morrison’s in the morning, so looks like he doubled up!

Well done to all of you, a great turnout from the club. All the times are below.

Thanks, Marc
