Happy New Year to everyone at Witham RC! Quite a few of us started the year off by attending a parkrun over various locations: Black Park, Colchester Castle, Maldon Prom, Chelmsford Central, Great Notley, Hockley Woods, Harwich, South Woodham Ferrers, Chalkwell Beach and Stanborough.

Ian Lucas was celebrating his 250th parkrun in Maldon Prom – congrats on the Milestone, Ian! And he wasn’t alone at Maldon Prom, there was a fab turnout consisting of Banksy (19:18), Damien Walsh (19:44), Annalise Tye (23:38 & course PB), Dean Whittaker (23:45), Luna Doodle (24:47), Adam Hocken (24:51), Kevin Harper (25:02), Simon Parsons (25:17), James Cooch (25:54), Louis Kitchener (25:55), Ian Lucas (27:34), Claire Lucas (27:35), Dominique Harts (28:06 & course PB), Mick Conroy (29:32), Chrissy Israel-Jones (29:55), Ian Cuthbert (29:55), Karen Flowers (30:49), James Attenborough (31:44), Sue Shippey (32:01), Lysia Jiggins (33:00), Ross Silverton (33:33), Beth Shippey (35:03), Nicola Digby (35:05) and Simon Handley (35:05).

Over at Chelmsford you could find Andrew Smith (21:00), Claire Collins (22:05), Vicki Riley (25:01) and Fiona Collins (27:47). Further away in Hertfordshire was Steven Alder (28:37) at Stanborough whilst Leo Cole (22:06) went to the seaside at Chalkwell Beach. Whilst looking at seaside courses, there was also Harwich with Dawn Shilling (30:55), Angela Read (31:03) and Andrew Read (31:04), with the Reads celebrating their great nephew’s 50th parkrun.

South Woodham Ferrers saw Darren Pyne (32:28) and Sharon Read (32:56) with their Ridgie and Staffie, who found everyone was so friendly and would love to go back there again. Meanwhile, Giles Sowerby completed his course in an exact time of 20:00 at Hockley Woods. Great Notley had a small group of our members, including Gus Maby (22:45), Mark Austin (23:10), Penelope Clarke (35:19) and Emma Austin (35:50). Black Park in Slough saw Nichola Beazeley (26:55) and Chris Beazeley (51:38). Patrick Hinchliffe did his 77th time at Colchester Castle, completing it in 37:54.
