Witham takes Benidorm

Witham Running Club took to the streets of Benidorm this weekend for the annual Half Marathon and 10K, an event that’s as much about the atmosphere as it is about the racing. Despite a rainy start to the morning, the skies cleared just in time for the 17.30 race start.

Runners were spurred on by the fantastic energy of the crowds. The camaraderie within the team was equally uplifting, with our members pushing themselves to great performances and cheering each other on as the course looped back and forth.

Results

Standout Performances:

• PB – Jamie Davidson: 1:23:41 – Another excellent run from Jamie this year saw him finish in 89th.
• Club Record – Congratulations to Heydon Mizon who successfully took Heydon Mizon’s MV50 at Half record.
• Club Record – Graham Eyre also broke his club record in a time of 1.53.43.
• PB – Adam Regan: 1:40:49 – determined to the end, Adam secured 543rd place.

• Heydon Mizon: 1:19:04 – A phenomenal run placed Heydon 38th overall in a highly competitive field.
• Chris Martin: 1:20:41 – Delivered a powerful performance, finishing 52nd overall.
• Pete Banks: 1:22:19 – A strong performance from this Tiptree runner whom we’re forced to share. A respectable 71st place.
• Owen Dare: 1:25:40 – A determined run earned Owen 121st place.
• Daniel Griffiths: 1:27:07 – A strong sub-1:30 finish secured 145th place.
• Steven Wherrett: 1:31:10 – A consistent effort placed Steven 218th.
• Chris Pugh: 1:31:10 – Right behind Steven, finishing 219th in a fantastic effort.

• Sam Hajder: 1:35:45 – Delivered a great performance to finish 365th.
• Sally Holye: 1:37:47 – A determined run saw Sally take 431st place.

• Andy Watson: 1:37:54 – A fantastic effort earned Andy 435th place.
• Dean Whittaker: 1:44:38 – A steady performance secured 745th place.
• Elizabeth Prior: 1:49:11 – Finished with determination in 959th place
• Louis Kitchener: 1:55:20 – A solid effort placed Louis 1283rd overall.
• Graham Eyre: 1:55:19 – A great run saw Graham finish 1282nd, just ahead of Louis.
• David Jobling: 2:02:05 – Kept pushing to secure 1652nd place.
• Michael Conroy: 2:03:43 – Finished with grit, taking 1742nd place.
• James Attenborough: 1:59:59 – A determined sub-2-hour finish placed James 1538th.

• Scott Darney: 45:51 – A strong comeback performance placed Scott 335th overall.
• Samuel Williams: 53:02 – A great effort by one of our newer members, finishing 763rd.
• Danny Connor: 1:00:00 – A steady run earned Danny 1334th place.
• Bethany Shippey: 1:11:24 – Finished strong, taking 2287th place in a competitive field.

These results reflect a fantastic effort across the board—well done, team!
