Witham and Essex League (24 – 25)

I wanted to share with you a quick update for this season’s xc races for 2024 – 2025. I know NESS is important to the club, and with a such a strong performance from WRC last season, it will rightly remain our priority. 

In addition to the NESS league however and with the understanding of the committee, it is my intention to lead a smaller group of Witham runners to the Essex League xc races as well. In the past, Witham runners have (as will be the case for this season), signed themselves up to take part, but I believe a coordinated effort from the club will greatly benefit our performance.

I have provided the dates for the league below:

• 5th October 2024, Hainault Forest
• 26th October 2024, Gloucester Park, Basildon
• 16th November 2024, Hilly Fields, Colchester
• 30th November 2024, Writtle University College
• 8th February 2025, Apex Playing Fields, Hockley

Note: I haven’t included the Open and Senior races above. Additionally, I am also looking at Parliament Hill and will provide more information nearer to the date.

All members will be welcomed to run in the Essex League for Witham but I do want to level with you too. These races feature a stronger field than NESS and if you are currently enjoying, or are looking forward to running the NESS xc races and feel this is enough, then I would encourage you to continue as you are. If however you feel confident then you’ll have my support.

Wherever you run and however you do it, I’m looking forward to seeing you represent WRC, showing the club at its best, in just a few months time.

Additionally, if you are totally new to xc or feel you’d like a few pointers, then please come along to the xc taster sessions which your coaches will be giving more information on soon.
