What a week! Last Tuesday we were having an emergency committee meeting to discuss if we could continue with club runs and today we are to remain in our homes unless absolutely essential to leave for food or work. Fortunately for us the government recognises the need for exercise and we are still allowed to go outside to have a run.
If you are in self isolation and need some support please reach out to WRC, I am sure all members would be happy to help. There is also a post from Jason and Jo, our welfare reps on the website
Club Member of the Month
We will continue with CMOTM. Apologies for the late announcement; CMOTM for February is Sandy Karl for her impressive performance at the Dubai Ironman 70.3. Congratulations Sandy.
Once we can resume group training we will have a mass presentation for all winners.
The other nominations for Feb were.
Matt Jordan – Having recently suffered plantar fasciitis, Matt has come back stronger than before, clocking up huge miles in training, peaking at over a hundred miles a week. He ran the St Peters Way 42-mile Ultra Marathon in 6hrs 42 min, despite difficult conditions, placing 5th.
Andrew Smith – for his fantastic PB at GB 1/2M, a great run and placing for WRC at the Harwich XC and his assistance at our Winter 5
Natalie Lilley – For her consistent improvement over the last few months, increasing her training distance and her pb of 28.33 at the winter 5k
Louise Pascoe – for winning the Winter 5k in a new PB
The committee have been discussing a variety of events in the coming weeks which will be posted on the website once confirmed.
The new membership year will begin on 1st April
I wish you and your families the best of health and look forward to seeing you all in the very near future.
Stay safe, keep your distance.
