A return to some group running

The running buddies groups have been extended to a maximum of 12 people to each group, see posts on website. If you wish to run you must read the disclaimer and complete the form for the group you wish to run with.

Hi-Viz

With the nights drawing in please ensure you are wearing some Hi-Viz when running and even consider wearing a light. It is very difficult to see runners when driving if they are not wearing anything reflective. Stay safe!

Results

What a weekend of Marathons, well done everyone. We had 14 runners at the Suffolk Back Yard Ultra and 11 doing the Virtual London Marathon. Some great results with James Blackshaw and Pete Banks completing 18 laps for a total of 75.01 miles and Rob Frost doing a sub 3 hr marathon for London. See post for full details.

Boxing Day 5 Cancelled

Following long discussions by the committee and looking at every option and considering all the risks involved in running the BD5, the committee have decided to cancel the race for this year.  We are looking at hosting a virtual BD5 over the Christmas break instead.

Awards and Trophies

Congratulations to Anita Grainger and James Crisp who were the winners of the cross country awards for 2019/20. We were hoping to be able to present these formally but it looks like we won’t have an opportunity.

We still have some more awards and trophies from last year that have not been given out. We will be pulling all these together and making contact with winners to arrange hand over.

Thursday Speed Development

Speed sessions are now being carried out. There will be 2 groups with a maximum of 12 supported by the coaching team.  All members are welcome.

EA weekly 30 run challenge

The EA weekly 30 continues with 4 members running this week. WRC finished 8th this week and move to 14th in the overall team scores. You can still sign up and join the WRC team, it’s just 30 minutes each weekend. Competition ends on December 20th. Details in post.

Rogue Running – One for All Virtual race series

This will be run from September until December with 4 different distances.  Full details are on website.

Self Isolation & support

If you are in self isolation and need some support please reach out to WRC, I am sure all members would be happy to help. There is also a post from Jason and Jo, our welfare reps on the website.

Stay safe.

Bill
