Tuesday Announcements 16th June

The committee met yesterday to discuss a return to some sort of organised group activity and have all agreed we should look at how we could achieve this. The EA are supportive of clubs returning to social distance training outside with a maximum of 6 people. We will be checking the guidance issued by the government and the EA and carrying out a risk assessment this week. Further details to follow.
Well done to all those who took part in the virtual pub run bingo. The link on the website showing a map of where members have run will be updated. Look out for final post with some stats.
Spell that Word
This week starts the virtual Tuesday challenge “spell that word” using street signs. There will be a new word each week that must be spelt using road signs, one per letter. All the words together will spell out a sentence. More details to follow on website and first word will be posted on FB group.
Summer virtual 5k / Rogue Front Door 5k series
Sunday is the first day of the second virtual summer 5k and the front door Rogue 5k series. There is an option to run 10k if you wish. See post for further details.
EA weekly 30 run challenge
Organised by England Athletics and starting on this weekend Sign up for free as part of the WRC team and run for 30 minutes over a weekend. Then upload your mileage which gets added to the WRC total to compete against other clubs. Full details on FB post or EA website.
Other fun events to start soon are “Run the Rock” and Strava Art.
Other non WRC events
Virtual Ekiden Relay -10th – 12th July
The organisers of the event, with support from Ipswich Jaffa’s are going to host this as a Virtual event! It’s free to enter with only a donation to the Essex Air Ambulance asked instead. See website post for more information.
WRC V-RAT 1000
21 runners from WRC continue with the V- RAT challenge. Great effort by all.
Self Isolation & support
If you are in self isolation and need some support please reach out to WRC, I am sure all members would be happy to help. There is also a post from Jason and Jo, our welfare reps on the website.
We have created a new Facebook page as a point of contact for non-members. Please like the page to make it more visible on Facebook. Just search for Witham Running Club page.
Thanks to all those who have already renewed their membership. We will be doing the annual members check on the Facebook group over the next couple of weeks and any non paid up members will be removed from the group. Please renew your membership if you wish to stay in the group. See post of group for more details.
We fully understand some members may not be in a position to renew at this time due to the impact from the corona virus so if this affects you please speak to myself or Jason and Jo, your welfare reps.
