The following weekend Anita Grainger and Andy Notley headed off to Nottingham to compete in the Outlaw season opener weekend.
Anita took on the sprint distance on Saturday, also a worlds qualifier event ( 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run). The swim (a cold 14 degrees) was a bundle and Anita got a mouth full of water near the start and kicked in the face dislodging her goggles with about 200m to go. Despite this and a slower swim she exited the water 4th in her age group. The bike was a nice flat fast 4 laps of the rowing lake and the run a single lap with a bit of cross country up a grass back and gravel to start and a small grass hill diversion towards the end.

Andy competed in the 70.3 , otherwise known as half ironman on the Sunday ( 1.5km swim, 90km bike, 21.2km run) 70.3 comes from the distance in miles. 1.2mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run.
The swim was cut from 1.9km to 1.5km as the water was considered too cold and unsafe to do the full distance. Andy has a cracking race , speedy on all 3 disciplines getting an overall 20min PB , superb!
