Triathlon Action 1st June Deva & Grafman

3 June 2025 - By Anita Grainger

Anita headed off to Chester to take part in Deva Triathlon in the Aquabike race, a worlds qualifier ( 1.6km swim, 40km bike). The swim was in the river Dee, against the current to start with then with the current on the way back which was great fun. Nice run uphill from the river into Grosvenor Park. The bike was a one lap course out from Chester towards Wrexham and into Wales for a section before heading back. It was a fabulous rolling course, into the wind for most of the first half. Anita had a good race finishing fourth in her qualifying age group securing a spot for the World Triathlon championships in Pontevedra next year , subject to confirmation.

Meanwhile Heydon took on Grafman 70.30 Triathlon (1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run) his first time trying out middle distance. Heydon had a great race actually enjoying the swim in Grafham Water, cruising through the bike course in the Cambridgeshire country side and speeding through the run to finish sub 5 hours and 4th in his age group which should give him a World championship place too. Well done Heydon!
