Speed Development 14/12/2023

This Thursday we will meet at Eastways Industrial Estate and the session will commence at 7:30pm with awarm up and drills. However, we encourage you to arrive a little earlier and do your own warm up prior to the start unless of course you are jogging to the meet.

This week we will be running progressive 800’s and the aim of this session is to work on your pacing. As the title of the session suggests you will be running 2 laps of the 400m loop and with each subsequent 800m the aim is to make it progressively faster than the previous one. There will be a 2m 30s recovery between each rep and depending on your pace you should manage between four and six reps.

Look to make the pace of your first rep your Tempo/Tuesday night pace and increase this pace on each rep. The margin of improvement on each rep does not need to be massive. Pacing is crucial to ensure each rep is quicker than the previous, but just a second or two would be considered successful taking into account the effort from the previous rep and the relatively short recovery time.

For your own safety please wear high-viz/reflective clothing and a light if you have one.

Beth and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

Graham
