15 October 2024 - By Steven Alder

Congratulations to our Club Member of the Month for September 2024 – Graham Eyre! This has been awared for his efforts in Ipswich at the Half Marathon, achieving 2nd place in his age group and setting a club record as well! A huge well done!

We had plenty of nominations this month, so also well done to the following nominees:

  • Celine Elson – For her 3rd female place in the H&T Roman River Trails Half race and then a fantastic PB in the Tring 50k ultra.
  • Clarice Sanderson – For her solo achievement at Pen Y Fan 24-hour challenge when the event was cancelled and she decided to continue on her own.
  • Glen ‘Wally’ Waller – For the training he’s put in whilst also quitting his job to start a new adventure. Plus, always being a great bloke.
  • Andrew Read – For completing his first ever marathon – Loch Ness – after turning 60.
  • Angela Read – For completing her first marathon – Loch Ness – and grabbing a club record. (First WRC woman in FV60 category to complete a marathon). Plus being encouraging to fellow club members.
  • Ross Silverton – For his consistency of running races and coming in first place in his age category at the Maldon Half Marathon.
  • Tyler Hodges – For embracing the WRC community, commitment to training since taking up running only last year, and some top times at Langham (39:47) & Pleshey (1:28:42).
  • Damien Walsh – For all he did for the runners at the Essex Way Relay. He was down for helping at the set up, and he brought in support with his family. He also helped at the A120 crossing and set up a water station due to the heat – great idea and much appreciated by many runners from other running clubs who sent in messages of thanks.
  • Ian Cuthbert – Always one of the happiest club members and very encouraging. Plus, he’s been smashing all his PBs throughout this marathon block. He also got a sub 20 5k at the Braintree track.
