WRC Virtual 5k Series – Race 2
Well done to everyone that took part in race 2 of the virtual 5k series. An even bigger well done to those that of you that managed to do it in the well-notified and wide-ranging date window. Luckily, your RD is a nice guy, and has allowed your times to be counted. I’ve ranked you all by percentage increase, but it’s race 3 that really matters, so still all to play for.

Not only is this a specific cell in an excel document, but it’s also the name of a virtual event that 11 of our members took part in last weekend. The concept of the race was that you had to run at least one mile every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours. A few things to note was that Mr Tashley did an upper body workout after each mile, and ended up doing 336 pres-ups in total. Also Mr Notley, who did some of his night miles dressed as Grommit. Nothing to do with the race apparently, just standard Saturday night fare. Also, a special shout out to Megan Lilley, who isn’t part of WRC, but completed the event with mum, dad and sister, despite ‘hating running’.
Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee
The GVRAT trundles on, with 21 WRC members making the virtual 635 mile trip across the state of Tennessee. Pete Banks now has less than 100 miles to go, but there’s a rumour he’s going to attempt the ‘BAT’ – Back Across Tennessee.
Thought for the week: “The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.”
