So many great races this weekend, and some top submitting, thank you 😊 (I did still have to track some people down – please do submit, so that you can get your Tuesday claps and so that we have a record of your achievements for champs and awards purposes)

Bromley 10k

We had an astonishing 43 runners out for this local favourite – black & gold everywhere you looked! Despite windy conditions and a somewhat congested start, there were a bunch of PBs and age podiums, plus a handful of standards. A special mention/welcome back to 2nd lady Vikki Suett! Also to Colsey, who took quite a tumble in the first kilometre but got up to finish. Lastly to Owen Dare, who collected (once again) the full set of PB, gold in his age group, Club Record (breaking his own from last year), and Platinum Standard time.

Sadly, we do only have gun times at the moment, although I know that some of you will have recorded your chip times individually for the short time that they were up. I’ll update the post/club records as soon as I can when the chip times are back (and before my next Club Champs update!)

UPDATE: chip times now added, AND well done to Vikky Suett, Sally Hoyle and Liz Stucky who were first ladies team!

Boston Marathon (and HM)

Quite a few members made the trek to Boston (UK!) for the popular marathon and half marathon. Even windier conditions, and another tumble here, as Si Handley managed to finish in a very respectable time, despite falling and dislocating some fingers – ouch!

Hats off to Heydon, who finished 1st MV50!

Marathon

Pos Name Finish Time Comments
24th Heydon Mizon 02:49:08 1st MV50
74th Chris Pugh 02:57:14
218th Samuel Hajder 03:15:35 PB
242nd Simon Handley 03:18:41
266th Vicky Hunt 03:21:27
484th Dylan Alston 03:45:25

HM

Clare Boston and  Lee Tooey took on the half. Clare, who was only there to get a medal with her own name on, finished in 2:15:48 and Lee finished in 1:43:22. Well done, both!

Brighton Marathon

Only two from WRC at Brighton this year, but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in quality, with David Kelly finishing 3rd MV70 and setting a club record.

Name Time Comments
Richard Green 4:02:26
David Kelly 4:17:01 3rd MV70 and club record!

London Landmarks Half

Chris Woods was enjoying the sights around London in this very popular half (although it looks as though the ballot was unkind to WRC this year!). Chris finished in a time of 1:55:20

Jodee Mayer was asked to pace this event and did a great job, despite terrible GPS, coming in at 2:56:28 against a target of 3 hours. Some very happy runners coming in just under the 3 hour mark thanks to Jodee 😊

Dulwich 10k

Natasha Layley opted for an alternative 10k in Dulwich, which she completed in 1:04:27. Well done, Tash!

Colne Engaine Fun Run

Darryl Selmes and Adam Hocken were in Colchester for this 10 mile fun run. No official results here yet either, but Adam’s Strava recorded 1:25:45, and Darryl recorded a PB of  1:23:18. Well done, both!

Paris Marathon

Georgia Blofeld ventured abroad for the Paris marathon, which she completed in an impressive 3:49:05 – well done Georgia!

That concludes the results for this week. If someone could please pass Karen a drink when she’s read them, I’d appreciate it!
