We had runners out at 5 different events this weekend, with all but one of them having a choice of at least three distances. Owen Dare and Ross Silverton both had a double-header, running in Remembrance events on both Saturday and Sunday!
ATW Remembrance Run
Owen Dare took on the half marathon distance at this remembrance run at Debden Airfield, his time of 1:23:32 was both a PB new M60 club record, beating the previous record that had stood since 1993 by almost a minute.
In the other distances:
|47||Dylan Alston||00:48:52 PB|
David Carey came in 16th in the 5k, and 2nd in his age category, in a time of 20:31. Well done David!
Unfortunately the heavens opened during the pre-race remembrance service, but that didn’t dampen spirits, with WRC taking the men’s team 1st place trophy!
|2||William Radley||00:55:31||2nd place & 1st team|
|8||Damien Walsh||00:59:12||PB & 1st team|
|12||Chris Martin||00:59:54||1st team|
|218||Andrew Read||01:28:28||Bronze Standard|
Hare & Tortoise Remembrance Sunday
A choice of distances at this event too, with options for 10k, half, marathon or the full 6 hours.
6 hour event:
Rupert Bulgin – 3 laps – 19.65 miles
Ben Roberts – 4 laps – 26.2 miles
Runners could choose between 5, 10 and 16 miles at this narrative trail event hosted by Springfield Striders.
Victoria Park Half Marathon
Glen Waller was our sole representative at this one, smashing his PB and finishing in 1:47:44
Fantastic efforts, everyone.
Thought of the week:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
