October 2024 CMOTM
30 November 2024 - By Steven Alder
Congratulations to our Club Member of the Month for October 2024 which has been awarded to Ian Cuthbert – great stuff! Over 3 consecutive weekends in October, Ian smashed PBs at the Abingdon Marathon, where he took 22 minutes off his PB, the Tiptree 10M and the Southend 10k – after only just in the previous 7 weeks having also smashed PBs at 5k, 5M and half marathon – what a 10 weeks! And finally, to close out the month he represented WRC at the first NESS XC race and finished in one of the men’s scoring positions. Absolutely amazing!
Well done to our other nominees for October:
- Jamie Davidson – Jamie clocked PBs at the Tiptree 10 where he placed in the top 10 positions and the Abingdon Marathon where he clocked a time of 3:00:01. After this he donned his cross-country shoes the following weekend to represent WRC at the first NESS XC League fixture, where he finished in the men’s scoring positions. In the months leading up to his Abingdon marathon, Jamie also set new PBs at 5k, 5M & half marathon as well – fantastic running!
- Mick Conroy – Mick set PBs at the Tiptree 10 and the Abingdon Marathon and then the following week represented WRC at the first NESS XC League fixture where he was on call from his job (where he actually took a call on the way round)! During his marathon lead in he also set new PBs at 5k, 5M & half marathon as well – great stuff Mick!
- Chris Martin – Chris clocked a massive PB and a club MV40 record with his time of 57:38 at the Tiptree 10 where he finished in 6th place. Chris has been running for a long time, it’s been over 12 years, and he is still achieving PBs.
- Sean Darney – Sean finished in 5th position at the Chelmsford Marathon in a PB and MV40 Club Record time of 2:44:37.
- Damien Walsh – After a fantastic training block, Damien clocked a big PB of 2:50:11 at the Amsterdam Marathon. He then turned out a couple of weeks after in Black and Gold to represent WRC at the NESS XC League first fixture where he chatted with and encouraged many club members while running out on the course – so all in all a great couple of months for Damo after his top 300 finish at The Great North Run only the month before.
- Henry Crates – Henry Crates for his first race for WRC where he competed in the U17M Essex XC league fixture in Gloucester Park completing the 6k race in a very impressive 22:39
- Daniel Griffiths – for a smashing PB at the Royal Parks Half Marathon with a time of 1:23:55! And to start the month off another 10K Pb at Southend 10K with a time of 37:50.
