May Day 5 Volunteers needed

Hello everyone,

As I have mentioned on a few Tuesday night sessions we, as a committee decided to revert our May Day Race back to a 5 mile race this year.

This means that we are on the ‘hunt’ again for as many of you to help out on the day as possible. Encourage your family and friends to help as well if you want.

The race will be held on Monday May 6th and will start at 10:30am.

Course set up will start from 8am with registration provisionally opening at 9am. This means that we should be able to go home and enjoy the rest of our Bank Holiday at about 12:30pm.

We need at least 50 volunteers to make the race a success and these roles can involve jobs such as course set up and take down, registration and number collection along with those required at safety points out along the route.

As a volunteer, you will be given 100 club championship points along with the gratitude of the runners as they run past you.

It is part of our club membership rules that entry into our races is not allowed. That being said, the committee will operate a ballot (subject to all volunteer roles being filled) for those who are able to volunteer and still want to run, provided that they can either:

A: Provide a volunteer on their behalf who is not a current member

B: Help with the course set up and take down

You must put your name below in order to be included in the ballot.

If you cant help on the day, other help in the run up and post race will be needed for things like:

  • Lockup collection and drop off
  • Leaflet drop to local residents
  • Pre Race Day course check etc

You will see a few posts from now on re: the MD5 so please keep your eyes peeled and thanks in advance for your help.

    Unless my calendar is wrong May Day is the 6th!
    And I’m aware it’s only 6 days before Halstead Marathon. See new post.
