The Club Member of the Month for May 2024 has been awared to Chrissy Israel-Jones – many congratulations! This has been awared for her unwavering dedication and commitment to her training for the Edinburgh Marathon and for her consistency of improvement, balancing and training with other responsibilities. On top of this she was raising money for charity along the way. Unfortunately at the end she did not receive the promised medal, T-shirt and and goody bag. As a first-time marathon runner, her accomplishment inspires fellow members.

Our other nominees for May were:

• Dominique Harts – brings such joy and enthusiasm to running.
• Giles Sowerby – for his performance at Halstead marathon on a crazy hot day coming in 1st in his age category and helping WRC win the men’s Team Gold.
• Will Radley – for his great race work this month – winning the Baddow 10-mile race and placing 3rd at the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k (where he also got a PB).
• Glen “Wally” Waller – for his commitment to training for Halstead marathon which although ended in disappointment, he didn’t let it get him down for too long as he’s come back stronger and booked for Chelmsford marathon in October. Also worth a mention is the continuous improvement at 5K races and achieving PBs at last 3 races in a row!
• Andrew Read – for being the man with the van for the number one Rock n Roll running club in the land! Moving all our MD5 race equipment – loading it all up before, sorting out all the signs for us to put up, taking it all to the MD5 race day and WRC’s water station at the
  Halstead marathon the following weekend.
