Marathon Training Plans – Spring 2022

23 November 2021 - By Scott Darney

As some members may know, the Witham Running Club coaching team have periodically provided marathon training plans for members who are looking for guidance when running their first marathon or looking to achieve a certain goal time.

In the past this has been managed on an adhoc basis but for next year, we will be trialling a more formal process to provide individual training plans for members who are enterred into or looking to run a marathon.

The member will be assiged a coach from the coaching team who will provide a bespoke plan and will assit with training tips and guidance along the way.

For this service we are going to introduce a one-off fee of £25 per plan, with all proceeds going towards the training and development of the coaching team.

We also plan to provide free basic training plans (for various distances) and upload these to the website so that there is a plan available for members that fits in with the WRC training days and sessions. Note that these plans do not come with a supporting coach but will come with all the necessary information to follow.  We plan to have a marathon plan available at some point in the new year, with other distances possibly to follow.

For now, if you are running a marathon in April or May, or you are thinking about it and would like to secure the service of one of your coaching team to help you reach your goal, please fill out the Athlete Profile Form in the link below and someone from the coaching team will be in touch (note you will have to be a WRC member and signed into your account) :

– 16 Apr 2022: Brighton Marathon – 18 week plan starting 6th December
– 08 May 2022: Halstead Marathon (Essex Championship Marathon) – 18 week plan starting 10th January

Note that an 18 week plan will generally include a base phase of 2-4 weeks preparing for a 14-16 week marathon training block.

Any questions please get in touch or leave a comment on the below or on the facebook post.

Thanks,

Scott
