Let’s talk about Welfare

11 September 2018 - By Steve Hennings

Witham Running Club aims to create an environment where everyone involved feels safe and secure to enable them to achieve their potential as a runner, coach, officiate or to support those who do.

We have two Welfare Officers – Sasha Rush and Steve Hennings.

Welfare covers a range of issues such as safeguarding and protecting children, anti-bullying, equity, poor practice in coaching and disciplinary & grievance matters. It encompasses the England and UK Athletics policies and procedures to set out minimum standards of expectations, such as codes of conduct, procedures to follow for dealing with child protection concerns, other welfare issues such as harassment and anyone who could be vulnerable.

On the following page link you can find links to the various codes of conduct that WRC adhere to, along with other useful information.

We would strongly recommend that you take some time to read the various documents especially the overarching Code of Conduct for Clubs, and Athletes as they cover us all.

If you ever have a concern, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem to you or someone else, please raise it with one of the welfare officers or other members of the committee.

Welfare is everyone’s responsibility.

Sasha & Steve
