July CMOTM

19 August 2022 - By Jason Lilley

Steven Alder is our Club Member of the Month for July.  He volunteered for course set up at all 4 of the summer 5k series before running each of them, and then proceeded to win the handicap race!  He may even rival DJ for course set-up knowledge.  He regularly attends Tuesday evenings and is a real team player, recently choosing a different pace group so that another member didn’t have to run alone.  Steven has made a huge improvement in speed since joining and has become an extremely valued member of the club.

Our other fantastic nominees for July were:

Rachel O’Leary – Rachel ran man Vs coast (24 miles) which was her first time at almost marathon distance, then she volunteered to take someone’s place at Writtle Round Ultra (they were injured) just 22 days later. Her first (almost) marathon and her first ultra in one month, amazing!

Natalie Lilley – For her run at the H&T Life’s a Beach event where Natalie managed to run a total of 22.96 miles and finished as second lady.

Sam Hadjer – For his PB at the Bentley 5 miles in 31.50 followed by an excellent run at Felstead 10k in 40.36 on a really hot day.

Andrew Smith – Andrew started the month with a win at Markshall Parkrun. He then ran a total of 32 miles during the Spitfire Scramble in mid-July, and followed that up a week later by finishing 4th overall/2nd male at the 50k Writtle Wround in very hot conditions.
