EA updated guidance
2 June 2020 - By Bill Smythe
On 1st June the EA updated their return to activity guidance with adherence to the Government’s “Second Step” guidance outlined on 29th May.
The guidance can be found on the EA’s website here:
The guidance now allows athletes to run or train in a public space on a one-to-five basis, i.e. one coach and up to five athletes OR up to six athletes with no coach present. These individuals do not need to be from the same family household, but all must adhere to the latest social distancing guidance.
The committee will be discussing how and if this will change any of our club activities. It is important that the safety of our members is put first, and we have considered all the risks that may be involved.
In the meantime, if you wish to run with other members of the club informally you are allowed to do so in groups of 6 people maximum. Social distancing of 2 metres must be adhered to at all times. Points to remember.
Maintain social distancing before, during and after the run.
Assess any risks before run commences.
Please ensure these are properly arranged beforehand so no more than 6 people turn up to run.
Carry a phone with you and ensure other runners in the group are aware of someone they can contact should there be an accident or injury.
Carry enough hydration / food for the miles you will be running.
