Congratulations to James Blackshaw, October’s CMOTM.

For his encouraging attitude towards getting others to give ultra-running a try. The high number of WRC runners at Suffolk Backyard Ultra was solely a result of his persuasion and enthusiasm, to the point we were convinced he was earning commission.  At the event, his was amazingly motivating, coming up with mental checkpoints for most laps and encouraging people to ‘just start’ the next lap which resulted in many of us doing several more laps. In addition to the above, he and one other completed the most WRC laps! Well done James.

Other nominations.

Sarah Naughton – for her completion of the Roman River Trails Marathon

Pete Riley – for breaking the MV50 club record in the winter 5k – 18.02

Laura Swanton – Less than a year ago Laura started a couch to 5k program and could barely run at all.  She trained consistently over the summer and created a Facebook group of friends and neighbours to inspire others to run.  In October, she completed the Virtual VLM in 5:36:20, raising an incredible £2700 for Breast Cancer Now.

Jenny Layley – despite not having run anything more than a half marathon for a couple of years, and only expecting to do 3/4 laps maximum, Jenny pushed herself and clocked up an incredible 33 miles at the Suffolk Backyard Ultra

Liz Prior – Sheer determination to push through, having come in at the end of a lap in obvious pain, she went out for another 2 laps, securing 3rd placed lady and ticking past 50 miles.

Damien Walsh – for the work he put in for his VLM marathon PB and then a very impressive 10k PM 2 weeks later.
