Brentwood Half Marathon results
20 March 2016 - By Anita Grainger
Conditions were near perfect at Brentwood half marathon today; cloudy and about 6 degrees with a sunny interlude en route. The course has a fast downhill start for the first 2 miles followed by an undulating 8 miles out through Blackmore and Kelvedon Hatch before heading back into Brentwood for the final climb. The race tends to be used by runners as a checkpoint in spring marathon training. The runners set off to the sound of a brass band and were met by a couple more bands at the halfway point in the village of Blackmore.
Five runners represented the club; James Blackshaw was our first runner home continuing to improve with a new PB of 1.35.07 finishing in the top 300. Ross stuck to Anita following her round the course for the first 6.5miles until her cold got the better of her and Ross pulled ahead finishing 1.51.28. Tony Smith was our next runner home in a time of 1.52.25 with a course PB knocking 4 minutes off his previous best. Anita finished in 1.56.37 and last but not least Dave Howard knocked 2 minutes off his Colchester half time from last week finishing in a season’s best time of 2.15.38.
