August 2026 CMOTM

23 September 2026 - By Steven Alder

Well done to the Club Member of the Month for August 2026: David Jobling (DJ)! Now competing as a MV70, he achieved Club Record and Gold Standard at the ATW Colchester 5k, and second MV70 at Clacton 10k. He also continues to support members with marathon planning, coaching sessions and his usual recce of the WRC leg of the Essex Way relay. A real WRC stalwart.

A further well done to our other nominees for August:

  • Shane Ketteridge – For organising a very enjoyable Social to Newmarket races.
  • Andy Notley – Ironman Copenhagen – for his consistent yearlong commitment to training and a fantastic sub-10-hour result. Andy completed the long full distance triathlon in an overall time of 9 hours 44 minutes which included finishing off in an amazing full marathon distance PB of 3:45. Epic indeed!
  • Andy Watson – For picking up in his car a fellow club member when they got injured on a Sunday morning long run.
  • Steven Wherrett (Wez) – Consistently dedicated training resulting in multiple PBs, most recently his superb 5k race in Colchester and helping a club member with theirs.
  • Scott Darney – Creating and continuing to build a race for the local running community that is open to runners of all speeds, and which also shows just how entertaining a running race can be.
  • Claire Lucas – For becoming an Ironman by completing the Leeds Ironman. Claire decided the half at Bolton wasn’t enough so took on the challenge of a full distance in what was only her third triathlon. Shrugging off the disappointment of the swim stage being cancelled (due to algae in the lake), Claire took on the challenging, 180k 3 lap wet and hilly bike course which included the 20% Black Hill after which she went on to complete the marathon stage in just under 5 hours and an overall finish time of 12h57m. She put a huge effort into her training, getting up at the crack of dawn regularly, to swim, run and bike, and this along with usual family commitments with 2 young sons.
  • Stam Katsimis -Stam has PBd at almost every distance this year, including a great time of 19:38 at the Colchester Friday Night 5k.
