A message from the heart
28 September 2025 - By Karen Flowers
It is with a heavy heart that I share the incredibly sad news that Theresa Montgomery passed away unexpectedly a few days ago.
This has come as a huge shock to all of us who knew and loved her. Theresa was so much more than words can say — warm, kind, funny, and full of life. Her absence will be felt deeply.
For our newer members of the club who may not have known Theresa, she joined WRC with Monty just before they got married in about 2004. All members at the time were even given an open invitation to the wedding in Rivenhall.
Theresa was fiercely competitive, entering and doing really well in many races. She was also Chairperson for WRC during her time with the club.
But what most people will fondly remember her for, was her level of commitment & support to WRC over the years – she was always at a XC event (rain or shine), at every JR 5k event, BD5, MD10 and any other event we arranged – always there to help and cheer everyone on. It was one of the reasons why she (along with Monty) received the Recognition of Commitment award two years ago.
On a personal front, I will truly miss her – I loved our chats, her dry sense of humour and her love for the club. It will feel really strange this year not to see her at our next club event.
Please keep Monty in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Theresa.
