NESS XC race 1 results

Firstly, a massive Thank You to all who turned up – to an amazing 66 runners, but also to all of those who came to stand in the cold and helped with scoring, cheering and taking photos, which really helps to make the XC races what they are. Thanks, of course, to the amazing bakers – having more than enough cake for 66 hungry runners is an achievement in itself!

Witham’s huge squad made up 20% of the total field of 330 runners – a fifth of the total entrants from 11 teams! It was great to see so many faces, old and new, with a good number of members trying out XC for the first time. Hopefully you’ve all got the bug now and will be back for the next installment of mud & cake 😊

On to the all important scores. For those new to XC, Witham sits in Pool A of an 11 team league. There are 6 teams in Pool A, and 5 in Pool B, with the bottom/top teams in each Pool being relegated/promoted at the end of the season. The scores are made up of our first 8 finishing men, and first 4 finishing women, but every runner that we put out is important as, even if you don’t finish in a scoring position, you could be pushing down the score of someone from another team.

• Pool A Women – 3rd
• Overall team position – 3rd

This is a fantastic start to the season. We’ve set a high bar for ourselves, and we look forward to seeing you all back again on 28th November for the Halstead fixture.
